When it comes to perimeter security system, there is a variety of solutions available on the market, but since it is normally an outdoor installation, we have to consider some random factors such as animals, falling leaves, adverse weather conditions, etc. Active Infra-Red Beams, are a reliable method of intruder detection. When they are installed inside perimeter towers, they remain hidden from potential intruders’ sight and at the same time, protected against impacts and vandalism. This is important in order to ensure the correct detection and to reduce false alarm rates.

Infra-Red Beams work by sending a modulated beam of infra-red light from a transmitter to a receiver. When an object appears and interrupts a signal, the receiver sends an alarm signal to a control panel by means of a dry contact relay. It is important to point out that this will occur only if the “intruder” interrupts all beams at the same time, so that no signal from any of the beams reaches any of the lenses of the receiver. Only in that case an alarm would be generated. Why? In order to reduce false alarms generated by the previously mentioned external agents, heavy fog, snowfall, etc.

To ensure an optimal detection, it is very important not only to protect, but also to set up the beams correctly and for this purpose Bunker Seguridad has designed the easyPack prewired beam tower, with all the basic elements already installed, wired and perfectly organised inside. This way you reduce considerably the installation time and costs. For instance, if you have to relocate staff to the place where you want to protect the perimeter, this entails relocation expenses, maintenance costs, etc. The less time the technical staff spends installing the perimeter security system, the greater the optimization with lower costs and fewer installation errors.

We install TAKEX infrared beams inside, to ensure stablility, accurate detection, low false alarm rate and a very long service life. This qualities make TAKEX one of the most prestigious Japanese security equipment manufacturers. TAKEX Photoelectric Beam Sensors offer a complete protection based on Double Modulation, Tuning Amplifier and Phase Locked Loop (PLL) systems technologies. The combination of features and reliability ensures unrivalled tolerance against direct or reflected sunlight, vehicle headlights and other light sources.

In addition, easyPack prewired beam towers are adapted to the requirements of each installation. Both, beam towers’ format and the number and model of sensors included can be chosen. Single-sided and double-sided options are available for ground or wall mounting. All you have to do is to fix the tower to the floor or wall, wire the power supply, place the frequency on the barriers and align them according to the instructions. Have a look at some possible configurations here.

So, with easyPack you get the best quality beams already customised to your needs, prewired inside perimeter towers and ready for installation.

It is a well know fact that summer is a hot time for burglaries. They usually start to increase in June and peak in July and August. During these months main residences are more exposed to break-ins, burglaries and robberies, because they usually become more vulnerable. Whereas in the case of second homes, those in rural areas are always highly vulnerable, especially in less populated areas.

As perimeter security professionals, we are well aware of the requirements of good perimeter detection. For residential use we recommend Bunker Security’s beam towers, concealed and camouflaged in lampposts and garden lights. These towers are designed in different formats, and we can deliver them separately or in combination with the most durable beams on the market, TAKEX beams. We can even deliver them pre-configured and pre-wired with the desired combinations of beams adapted (easyPack family from Bunker Seguridad).

Photoelectric Beams

The different models of infrared perimeter beams are perfectly compatible with each other, with an optimal result both aesthetically and functionally. Many combinations and configurations can be made, including among models from the residential and the industrial ranges, when necessary.

Urban security involves tackling burglary, theft, vandalism and the most effective way to do this is through early detection and deterrence.

Over many years, TAKEX has successfully designed, perfected and verified the performance of its infrared barriers. Strict quality control and rigorous testing, applied at every stage of production, ensure that all TAKEX products have a hard-to-beat lifetime. In addition, thanks to the combination of a double modulated beam with a tuning amplifier and Phase Locked Loop (PLL) system, photoelectric beam sensors designed and manufactures by TAKEX provide complete perimeter protection like no other.

Video analytics for perimeter detection

Although more and more video surveillance cameras are being installed in neighbourhoods and municipalities, sometimes the only function they are used for is to record assaults or burglaries that occur. However, it is always better to prevent crime, and to achieve this, intelligent video analysis can be added to video surveillance systems and combined with intrusion detection systems, based on beam towers.

Advanced video analytics optimise the efficiency of the installed security system and allow us to detect intrusions in controlled spaces, before damage or loss occurs. Video analysis is based on software installed on hardware equipment that allows autonomous, advanced real-time analysis of images that are being captured by the cameras. Then a camera ceases to be a passive part of the security system to detect suspicious events and to trigger the planned actions.

Tempos Analytics offers solutions that are compatible with the main VMS on the market, as well as with visual, thermal and dual cameras. Especially noteworthy is the possibility of combining intelligent video analysis with existing perimeter system detectors, as well as the advantage of being able to choose between various types of hardware depending on the needs and requirements of the project. The flexibility of the configuration and licences combination facilitates the creation of much more intuitive, accurate and automated surveillance systems. In addition, number plate recognition licences for parking management or access control can be added to the same hardware.

Other sensors

Depending on the particularities of the site to be protected, the security system may incorporate other outdoor and indoor sensors to complement the protection adding further functionality and detection zones. For example, PIR detectors can de used to detect intrusión, turn/ switch cameras or actívate alarms.

Scaffolding has become another element of the landscape in our neighbourhoods and streets: the need of housing and commercial blocks rehabilitation makes its presence common in every group of city blocks in our town or city. They are necessary elements if you want to keep a building in good condition. However, the installation of these elements represents an additional risk, because they facilitate unwanted access to the surrounding homes and business facilities.

In order to avoid assaults, a good perimeter security system is required: infrared barriers and infrared detectors are one of the best options for intrusion detection. These detection systems are constantly studied in order to avoid false alarms: composed by transmitters and receivers, each transmitter is read by all the detectors. When one of these infrared rays is interrupted, the activation of the alarm would be delayed, while if the interruption occurs in 2 or more rays, the alarm would be activated.

From Bunker Seguridad Electronica, we want to indicate the key points when choosing a good protection system for scaffolding or tubular structures:

Weather factors

The perimeter sensors must work 24 hours a day and in any weather condition: in case of thick fog, hailstorms or smoke the cameras lose their effectiveness while the infrared sensors continue working. This is one of the myths when it comes to perimeter security. The idea that cameras provide total security is far from the reality. They are, in fact, backup devices.

In this regard, Takex infrared sensors offer unmatched extra protection against frost, dew and snow, as they are protected with a hood-shaped cover that does not allow water to seep through its grooves, extending the life of the device. Their optics are also hermetically sealed, so that insects cannot penetrate the system.

Light resistance

For outdoor installations, a problem that affects the sensors is light, both natural and artificial: water mirror effect, cars lights, or the attempt to dazzle the sensor by means of a flashlight are not an inconvenient for Takex barriers and detectors, as their tolerance is up to 50 000 lx. In addition, sabotage attempts through blinding are canceled thanks to its special light filtering circuit.

Technology

The choice between the different models must depend on the type of structure, space and place where they are going to be installed:

Takex MS-100E passive detector is one of the favorites in Spain and the United Kingdom. It has a 180º rotating lens that allows the unit to be placed in almost any position: for the protection of scaffolding and tubular structures, it is installed on the ladder section and at the ends of the scaffolding focused on the wall to protect from breaking-in. This Takex sensor has a front cover that hides the orientation of the sensor.

For 4-beam technology, Takex has the PB-50F model, recommended as long as there is no possibility of overlapping of beams.

The PB-30TK and PB-60TK models have 2 beams and the difference between them is in the distance to be covered.

Installation, assembly and handling

Due to the fact scaffolding is a structure that won’t remain in the same place for a long time, intruder detection systems must be easy-to-install and resistant in order to support all types of handling and assembly. Takex quality finishing extends the life of their products: these sensors stand out for their robustness. Its useful life is estimated at 10 years for the transmitter and at 9 for the receiver.

Installation assistance

It is convenient that the personnel in charge of the installation and assembly of these devices have knowledge and training on them, therefore, from Bunker Seguridad Electronica, we offer personalized training on all the products we have, understanding that a deep knowledge about the product allows the installer an easy and simple use of it, to avoid, in this way, giving more assistance to the installation with respect to the desired ones.

Economic factor

The economic factor plays a decisive role in choosing the technology that will protect the structure. However, other factors such as those mentioned above should not be overlooked: device life, manufacturer warranty, technical advances, performance or technical support.

Takex infrared sensors are undoubtedly the most expensive on the market, but they also own the highest quality and durability, which translates into a reduction of false alarms and most importantly: less assistance to the installation, so that the initial investment is widely amortized. These equipments are designed for industrial work and for intensive use, to be manipulated by different people and to be installed again and again in different locations without causing false contacts or deteriorating the product.

All the products mentioned throughout the article, and many more of the Takex brand, can be obtained through Bunker Seguridad Electronica.

To keep the scaffolding and tubular structures protected and to warn of any intrusion by climbing attempt, the infrared barriers of Takex are a good option.

Takex designs and manufactures 2 and 4 beam infrared barriers and is the reference in any scaffold alarm due to its robustness, light resistance, useful life and technology. These can be installed, disassembled and manipulated on numerous occasions, even by ‘different hands’, over the years. Thus, the quality does not descend, there are no moving strips, no slackness or false contacts.

The recommended four-beam infrared barrier model, provided there is no possibility of scaffolding overlapping, is Takex PB-50F (PB-50FA); with regard to the 2-beam models, depending on the distance to be protected, there are the PB-30TK and PB60TK models.

One of the biggest problems when installing outdoor sensors are the activations caused by the animals. To avoid these false alarms, Takex has developed the dual zone detection system, which is activated only when the sensor perceives movement in its two zones si- multaneously: in the horizontal zone and in the descending zone.

The MS-12 series of Takex also includes details such as pulse counter, NO / NC output and sensitivity adjustment. Its structure is rainproof and its installation is possible both indoors and outdoors.

In addition, Takex has included in the 12TE model a head with double sensor that offers un- limited tolerance to pets: the horizontal curtain is fixed and parallel to the ground, while the descending curtain is adjustable to adjust the distance from 3 to 12 meters. The detection angle is 90o and it is adjustable, so the maximum coverage is 12mx 90o.

In addition to the characteristics of the previous model, the 12FE detector offers quadruple sensor, which is composed of two heads with dual sensors for each head, and which in- crease the coverage up to 180o.

Thanks to these characteristics, the infrared detectors, and especially the MS-12 series from Takex, are one of the most highly rated on the market, specially designed for indus- trial applications and in residential environments.

TAKEX is a well-known Japanese manufacturer of perimeter security sensors, specialized in outdoor active photo beams with infrared beams and outdoor PIR for perimeter protection for both intruder detection and CCTV activation and other security applications. The product quality, design in accordance with the highest standards during the manufacturing process, strict quality control process and tests used in every production phase ensure that every TAKEX infrared sensor can be provided with several-years warranty in order to assure reliability (final user, installer, supplier).

The TAKEX stand at ASIS 2015 fair, held this year in California, presented novelties which TAKEX offers concerning its perimeter detection products. One of the products that should be exposed due to the fact that it is one of TAKEX most important products in the market is its FH-KH series of infrared beam sensors. Its most important features are four high-power beams with double modulation, four selectable frequency channels with beam modulation, double protection layer for electronic modules for harsh environments (saline-corrosive ones) and atmosphere conditions’ monitoring circuit for beam propagation.

Its infrared photo beams can also be easily combined with perimeter towers by BUNKER SEGURIDAD, another important manufacturer inside the anti-intrusion protection sector. Both form a tandem which offers maximum reliability and quality.
